Week 7 Results

Bow-chicka-wow-wow! We're making progress. That's right... Courtney saw big numbers fall on the scale this week and Lauren noticed some non-scale victories. Thanks to some meal planning and serious tracking... things are looking pretty good. We've become very fond of the Subway at the hospital, on days when what we planned to eat just didn't look so appetizing. If Jared was able to lose it... so can we!

(Jared visiting our Subway)

For the week ahead:
  • Continue to limit fast food by planning meals
  • BodyPump, MoCoRobics (or running for Courtney)
  • Build exercise into the weekends
  • More structure and balance

Pump it UP!

The numbers may be moving slow, but I'm pretty sure the inches are falling. BodyPump has been kicking my butt SO good! I never thought I could enjoy a work out so much.

I've recently noticed that my arms are getting toned. There's even the hint of a little bicep trying to poke through. To this I say... "bring on the sleeveless tops"!

One additional non-scale accomplishment this past week... doing jumping jacks! Every time I went to MoCoRobics, I always opted for the low-impact jacks (never actually leaving the ground). However, last week, I got a little braver and who knew... there were jumping jacks aching to get out. Sure they weren't big ones, but it was exciting none-the-less. AND, one last pic (sorry it's lousy quality from my phone). I tried these on just for motivation...

Week 6 Results

Hopefully some of you are being motivated by our journey (struggles). We've made some BIG changes and continue to push even harder. We are still human and will have our set-backs and struggles from time to time... but when we're doing good why is the scale not reflecting it???

We did our normal weigh-in routine this morning... and here's what it looked like.

Sure, you might think that's not too bad... but considering how hard we're working... that is DISAPPOINTING!

The Week Ahead:
  • Build structure into the weekends (tracking everything we eat)
  • Up the weights at BodyPump
  • Ramp up the cardio!

Undo the Weekend?

So we had our second appointment with Jeannie Sykes, the Nutritionist at the Family Practice Center. We discussed emotional eating and eating for non-hunger reasons. Lauren and I BOTH do this, but in different ways. Lauren eats when she's bored, I eat when I'm happy or when I'm mad and we're both BIG social eaters. We both get stuck in the mindset of "oh, it's the weekend... its free for all" while we are out with friends. There is no such thing as being good or bad. You shouldn't have to justify why you are eating a certain thing that is "bad." I find myself doing that quite often. That was the case this weekend when I ate a bowl of Fried Oreo's. :( This is where we are beginning to struggle with our lifestyle changes. To quote Jeannie she said: "You aren't on a diet, the diet is the food you eat." "Diets" are quick and don't last you a lifetime... making healthier choices do.

I think we both realized today that we spend the first 2-3 days of the week undoing what we did on the weekend. We shouldn't have to do that. We both would be FAR FAR ahead if we didn't waste these 2 days on undoing those horrible weekends that come along every week. We both are VERY disciplined during the week, in part because we are together 40+ hours a week. You can't skip weekends, end of story. Our challenge for the next few weeks is to be more structured in our eating during the weekends. Alot of this is going to take some knowledge of making better food choices when eating out at restaurants. Everyone needs to indulge sometime or another... just not overdo it and get stuck in the downward spiral of overeating.

So... I think this will be our biggest challenge yet and I KNOW we can do it!

Week 5: Results

Can you believe we've already been in this exciting journey for 5 weeks?? "Time flies when you're having fun!"

This week, Courtney started running with her 4-legged baby and boy did she see a difference. Lauren stayed faithful to BodyPump and MoCoRobics/Zumba and saw "non-scale" results in her arms and legs reflecting more muscle tone.

Here come the numbers...

Notice both numbers are in the red this week. :)

What's coming up in their lives...
  • Courtney will be doing photoshoots over the weekend... YAY for the photographer's workout!
  • Lauren will be doing a car wash and catering... sounds like sweating!

Feeling Good About It...

I'm feeling good about this week. I'm hoping that my slump is officially over. I better pay off this week! If not, I think I'll spin off into a 5 year old temper tantrum.

I have been very disciplined this week (weekends do NOT count, haha). As of this morning, it looked pretty good... and it got me excited to keep it up. I should be down 10lbs now, not 4.3!

THE WEDDING IS 131 DAYS AWAY!! :)

Week 4 Results

It's that time... and we've got mixed emotions. Even though this is an individual journey, it's still a team effort. Not to make excuses, but this week WAS kind of crazy with Memorial Day and our monthly Birthday Lunch celebration at the Mexican restaurant. Each day is a new day filled with new motivation and we're not giving up!

We are counting points like crazy, eating more fruits and veggies, and working out til we can't sweat anymore! BodyPump, Mo-Co-Robics, and Zumba are in our weekly rotation. No turning back now!!

Frustration

Now the extreme frustration is really starting to set in. I THOUGHT I was good over Memorial Day, but the Weight Watchers scale proved to be wrong. I maintained for the week and I know that is way better than gaining, but still it put me further and further away from my monthly goal and reaching my 5% mark at the Weight Watchers meetings.

I'm not taking that number from WW into huge consideration as my "official" weight for purposes of this blog and journey. I'll start getting all confused on what I weighed on what scale and what the difference is and this and that. That will be where even more excuses will come in to play. I can't do that to myself. I certainly HOPE that tomorrow's weigh-in will prove that I lost SOMETHING! I'll take 0.1, I don't care.

My goal for this next week is to get under the 270 mark. I believe that is a pretty reasonable goal. I despise that number and I just want it to go away and never see it again.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
